Surf Club Hosts First Member-Guest Event

During a weekend of wonderful weather on June 5 and 6, the Surf Golf and Beach Club held its first Member-Guest Tennis Tournament since completing a major facility renovation and expansion.

“It was really a wonderful event,” said Cameron Roy, head of the Surf’s Racquet Sports Publicity Committee. “We had a very decent turnout of 18 teams, divided into three brackets by gender. Anyone with a USTA rating was eligible to compete.”

Participants enjoyed logoed backpacks, catered meals, fun tennis games, and a Friday evening Happy Hour with poolside socializing and live music. Matches wrapped up Saturday, followed by lunch in the Surf’s new Athletic Center while players watched televised tennis from Roland Garros.

With the recent hiring of veteran tennis professional Price Stephens as Director of Racquet Sports and the creation of a new Racquet Sports Committee, the Surf Club plans to expand its calendar of social and competitive events.

“We really want to showcase our club and our hospitality to guests while putting our expanded facilities to good use socially by adding a lot of events,” Roy said.

The Surf’s expanded facilities now include four new pickleball courts, four additional tennis courts, a large inground pool and patio deck, and a new state-of-the-art Athletic Center.

The Surf Club is also planning to host a “Rally for Members” event on Friday, July 10. Space will be limited. For more information, contact Price Stephens at tennis@surfgolfclub.com.
