Rules and Guidelines of League
ALL LEVELS
Start Date – Sunday, July 6th
Format – (Individual Match Competition) – Each player represents a team.
Match Day/Time – Players are encouraged to play the match on Sunday evenings; however if a player cannot play on Sunday then the match can be played at any time as long as all matches are played by September 14th. If Sunday’s will not work out, the HOME player must give another day of the week for the match to be played. Player’s designated as HOME team must call the Visiting player no later than 3 days prior to the Match Day to confirm match schedule and location.
All matches must be completed no later than September 14, 2008. Any match not played by September 14th will be a DOUBLE DEFAULT.
Match Location/Courts – The player designated as Home team is responsible for having a court available to play at the scheduled match time. The location of the match may vary from time to time therefore players need to make sure they DO NOT ASSUME the match will be played at the location on the schedule. At the time the Home team player makes the call to schedule the match the location, day and time should be confirmed.
Court Surface: The HOME team chooses the court surface the match will be played on.
Default Rule: There will be a 15 Minute default rule in effect. Keep in mind the objective is to play and not score a victory to enhance your position within the league.
Balls: HOME team (player) supplies new balls for the match.
Scoring: Each individual match will be the best 2 of 3 sets with the 3rd set being a Match Tie Break (10 point tie break ahead by 2). If a set score reaches 6-6 in any set a regular set tiebreak will be played to determine the winner of the set/match.
Results: The WINNING player is responsible for recording scores into the TennisLink website.
League Scores/Stats and Schedules – Will be available on the USTA’s TennisLink website which can be found on www.grandstrandtennis.net.
Team Additions: If a player can no longer play due to illness, injury, etc. the first player on the waiting list will take their place and will assume the results of the matches already played.
Players Records/Results: Individual records resulting from the Singles League will NOT affect year-end NTRP rating or South Carolina rankings.
Eligibility: A player must be 18 years of age, a current member of U.S.T.A. and must be registered as a team in TennisLink prior to playing a scheduled match. Please check with your High School and College coaches before you sign up for the league.
PLAYOFFS: Playoff dates have tentatively been scheduled for September 20 – 21, 2008.
