Grand Strand Junior Team Tennis Fall Season for 2010
The Grand Strand Junior Team Tennis (JTT) program has opened registration for the 2010 summer season for boys and girls, ages 6 to 18. The season will run from September 26 through November 27. Matches will be played on weeknights. The day of play is to be determined.
In USTA Jr. Team Tennis, teams are comprised of players of similar age and skill set. Players compete against other teams from the same area in one of five league divisions: 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under or 18 & under.
Please go to www.sctennis.com/jtt to register and to find out more about Junior Team Tennis. The registration fee is $45 and all registrants must have a current USTA Junior or Family membership. Junior memberships are $19 for a one year.
Grand Strand Jr. Team Tennis is a program of the Grand Strand Tennis Foundation. The Grand Strand Tennis Foundation is a USTA sanctioned community tennis association dedicated to the development and growth of tennis in the area.

Grand Strand Junior Team Tennis Sponsors Workshops
The Grand Strand Junior Team Tennis Program will host two workshops designed to facilitate the introduction of beginners to the sport of tennis.
QuickStart Workshop
September 11, 2010 Prestwick Country Club will host a QuickStart Workshop from 9:00 to 12:30.
This is a 3 hour interactive on-court workshop which provides an overview of the QuickStart Tennis format and the QuickStart Tennis Recreational Practice Plans. This workshop is about helping young children learn and develop the skills necessary to play tennis.
Who should attend? Parent and volunteer coaches, tennis teachers and recreational coaches, or anyone working with kids 10 years old or younger.
Cost is $25
August 28, 2010 Ocean Creek will host a Recreational Coaches Workshop from 9:00 to 3:30.
This workshop is an interactive, on-court training program designed for tennis teachers and coaches working with players at the recreational level and is taught by a trained, certified teaching professional. The workshop covers:
- Teaching large groups
- Games-based approach to coaching
- Running effective team practices
- Top 10 games and drills every coach should know
- The QuickStart Tennis format
Who should attend:
- Parents seeking the basics in coaching and organizing team tennis
- Parks and recreation instructors
- High school and seasonal coaches
- Coaches teaching kids and adults who are new to the game
- Current advanced players seeking part-time teaching jobs.
